The VIP Forest Flora & Farm Fauna Tour at Hawaii Forest Farms and Lili House Farm on Amaumau Road outside Volcano Village near Volcanoes National Park

9 a.m.: Tour the Enchanted Mamaki Forest: Gather on the Hexagon Lanai and then wind your way through hapu'u fern native forest, our production zone where mamaki plants are planted and pruned to optimize leaf output and quality, through the Upper and Lower Meadows and the Cook Pine Grove, past the Walled Garden, pausing for a rest in the the Koa Grove, and then out past the Confluence and into the winding pathways through the more wild forest. Here you will see beautiful specimens of the native forest trees like ohia and koa, and several native plant specimens growing on the forest floor and above it, including epiphytes, broussaisa and wild mamaki.

Tour guide and forest guardian Jordan Westerholm, who has lived on the property as primary caretaker since 2019, shares his history of restoring the forest, cultivating Mamaki and appreciating the wilderness around him. Return to the Hawaii Forest Farms Lanai and sample an assortment of Mamaki tea brewed each from a specific variety of Mamaki that you have observed on the forest farm tour.  Sophisticated tasters may blend with extracts from other plants grown on site including lemongrass, mint, lemon balm and culinary herbs.

11 a.m.: Lili House Farm Tour & Lunch: After the tea tasting, it's time to head to Lili House Farm to meet the family and assortment of animals that are sure to greet you almost the moment you get inside the gate. There are goats and chickens and rabbits and turkeys, and not far behind will be the wise old tortoises and an assortment of pigs. Then meet the horses from the upper paddock and feed the cows before washing up. At 12:00 you’ll enjoy a Country style Tea time with homemade bread and blueberry scones, Hand-Shaken Butter, Strawberry Rhubarb Jam, unlimited Espresso Coffee, and Tea in a relaxed farm style setting.

The VIP Forest Flora and Farm Fauna Tour includes approximately 2 hours at each facility, a sample bag of mamaki tea per tour guest, and one HFF t-shirt per booking group.
